Featured Presentation

Database Mirroring – A Solution Perhaps?

Speaker: Matt Denton, DBA

Summary: Are you a DBA, IT manager, or developer, stuck on SQL Server 2005/2008/2008R2? Maybe your company also doesn't want to pay the big bucks for the Enterprise Edition, so you get by with the Standard Edition. Perhaps your company's IT budget won't cover the costs of expensive hardware required for setting up a cluster, yet your database server supports applications that are crucial to the business. Database mirroring can be a cheap, out-of-the-box, fairly-easy-to-configure solution that has the ability to provide near-real-time failover capability so that downtime is minimized.

About Matt: Matt Denton is a Sr. Database Architect/Analyst with a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and 20 impressive years of experience in Fortune 500 companies such as Oracle and industries ranging from financial services to manufacturing. Matt’s top technical strengths are in database design, database development, and database administration. He has served in both hands on and hands off architecture type roles and in leadership positions. He has extensive experience with both SQL and Oracle databases.
